ColRegs Home>ColRegs>Lights & Shapes>Towing and Pushing>Inconspicuous Object Towed Rule 24 Towing and Pushing Inconspicuous Object Towed  A:  partly submerged or inconspicuous  vessel or object (or combination of such vessels or objects) shall exhibit when towed:  a diamond shape at or near the aft end An inconspicuous object being towed - displaying a diamond aft and  if the length of the tow exceeds 200m:  a diamond shape forward   The length of the tow is measured:  from the stern of the towing vessel to the end of the tow Inconspicuous objects being towed - tow more than 200m - displaying two diamonds The towing vessel is also required to display a diamond as the length of the tow is more than 200m and   if the breadth of the object is less than 25m  an all-round white light at or near the:  forward end and after end An inconspicous object less than 25m breadth being towed - two all-round white lights An inconspicuous object being towed - towing vessel under 50m shows lights for tow not more than 200m Towing vessel is under 50m and shows two masthead lights for tow, length not more than 200m but a dracone need not exhibit the light forward: A dracone less than 25m breadth being towed - one all-round white light A dracone being towed - towing vessel under 50m shows lights for tow under 200m Towing vessel is under 50m and shows two masthead lights for tow, length not more than 200m In addition, if the object is 25m or more in breadth, the object shall exhibit:  two all-round white lights at or near the extremities of breadth An inconspicuous object being towed - towing vessel under 50m shows lights for tow not more than 200m The inconspicuous object being towed is showing all-round white lights  Note that these are seen where you would expect to see the sidelights of a vessel towed  Towing vessel is under 50m and shows two masthead lights for tow, length not more than 200m A inconspicuous object (25m or more in breadth) being towed - towing vessel under 50m shows lights for tow not more than 200m Towing vessel is under 50m and shows two masthead lights for tow, length not more than 200m Inconspicuous objects (25m or more in breadth, 100m or more in length) being towed Inconspicuous objects (25m or more in breadth, 100m or more in length) being towed - towing vessel under 50m shows lights for tow more than 200m Towing vessel is under 50m and shows three masthead lights for tow, length more than 200m back to top A towing vessel (under 50m) A tug (under 50m) towing a large vessell A vessel towing two barges alongside A tug (under 50m) towing an inconspicuous object A small motor boat towing a dismasted yacht Towing Tow alongside or push Vessel or object towed Inconspicuous objects towed Special circumstances
